Community litter pick and sign cleaning

Fifteen of us out today litter picking and cleaning dirty road signs.  Thanks to all those Councillors and members of the public who pitched in. I was with a team of local volunteers clearing up litter on the Dragon Road cycle path, the Grove Parks and Regents.  Between six of us we collected 13 bin bags full of rubbish. At the Nidderdale Show with Yorkshire Air Ambulance

Over to the Nidderdale Show this afternoon to help man a stall with the volunteers for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.  The show was crowded and I’m pictured here with Helen and Tony Doveston. This isn’t the first time I’ve supported the Air Ambulance having collected mobile phones to raise funds and spoken in support of them in the Commons.  There is currently a review underway about the arrangements for fuel tax for air ambulances nationwide. Help at Home

A really positive start to Volunteer Week 2013, assisting with the fantastic service that Help at Home provides. Help at Home is part of the Harrogate Easier Living Project (HELP) and offers gardening, decorating and basic repair services to those who are unable to do it themselves. They tackle about 300 projects a year.
