I’m a regular visitor to Henshaws and so I am aware of the fantastic work they do. They provide expert care, advice and training to anyone affected by sight loss and also work with people with other disabilities. There is extra value to Henshaws’ work too. Because sight loss and other disabilities affects family, friends and colleagues, Henshaws work with them too.
I was working alongside a college enabler today – Suzie. We were in music and art classes, and preparing for a future College production of ‘The Little Shop of Horrors’. Many students face profound challenges in their lives and need help from specialist staff. The care and expertise of the staff provide was clearly in evidence today.
Throughout the week I have tried to demonstrate the breadth of activities with which volunteers can become involved. This is another example of something worthwhile and rewarding to the volunteer as well as the organisation which they are supporting.
